Stoke take the honours and the Prima Tiger Cup to Staffs for the first time in its history. An outstanding performance by the Stoke on Trent U-10s gave them victory in this year’s Prima Tiger Cup over a strong Kesteven team.
Picture TwoBoth sides were worthy of the title after winning through local festivals, quarter-finals and semi-finals at Welford Road.
The final was a battle of two different playing styles with Kesteven holding the larger more powerful and direct players whilst Stoke relied on their speed and technical skills to carry them through.
It was the latter that won the day after Kesteven took an early first half lead in an end to end game.
Stoke struck back almost immediately to leave the score line even at 1–1 at half-time. The second half was full on with neither side giving way in an extremely physical contest considering these boys were all still nine years old at the start of this season. Something had to give and Stoke broke through the Kesteven wall with just 10 seconds remaining on the clock to take victory and the coveted title of Prima Tiger Cup Champions for 2006/07.
