Argentine born Ramiro Pez played for La Tablada in his hometown of Cordoba and was fly half when they won the Argentinian club title for the only time in November 2000, scoring all 23 points in a 23-22 victory over Duendes Rosario. In March 2000 he joined Rugby Roma in Italy scoring 122 points and 6 tries in 19 Serie A appearances over the next season and a half including an Italian Championship final win over L’Aquila in Rome in June 2000 where he scored 20 points himself before being forced off at half-time due to injury.
Pez has gained 16 Italian caps since his debut in July 2000 against Samoa in Apia where he scored 9 points. A left footed kicker, he has now has accumulated 86 international points scoring 3 tries for Italy including two in tests against France and Scotland in this year’s 6 Nations Tournament. His international form was such that he was a shock omission from Italy's World Cup squad this year.
He joined Rotherham in 2001-02, guiding them to the National Division One title as their top points scorer with 202 points and repeated the feat last season, this time with 264 points breaking Mike Umaga’s previous Rotherham record of points in a league season.
