Preview | Tigers take on 'Quins in Cup clash

Leicester Tigers return to Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Saturday (April 13) with the Allianz Cup entering the knockout stages of the 23/24 competition.

The Tigers women's squad will play their first fixture in six weeks, with Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby taking a break while the 2024 Guinness Women's Six Nations remains in full swing.

Vicky Macqueen's side are searching for their first win in the competition, having struggled in the opening rounds in the competition while adjusting to the top-flight women's rugby.

The competition provided a chance for many players in last year's unbeaten Championship North 1 winners to take on Premiership sides for the first time, a period which saw first tries at that level for the likes of Zoë Evans, Charlotte Daley and Katie Childs.

Saturday's game also represents an opportunity for the side to get back to winning ways; in February, the side registered their first-ever wins in Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby, defeating top-flight stalwarts Sale Sharks away from home before downing Leicestershire rivals Loughborough Lightning in a derby day clash at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.

However, since then, a couple of tough losses, at home to Trailfinders Women and away to Saracens, means this match represents a perfect chance to get back on track and regather momentum, with just six matches left in the 2023/24 campaign.

Harlequins, however, will prove a stern test. Having triumphed in an entertaining encounter on their last visit to Leicester, Tigers fans will be keenly aware of the side's dynamic attacking prowess and attractive brand of rugby.

The Londoners also possess one of the most dangerous players in the competition, with retired Red Rose Shaughna Brown the tournament's joint-top scorer with four tries in her four games.
